Northstar PTO

The PTO was founded in the 2005-2006 school year by a handful of mothers. Their goal was to assist the teachers and organize school held events in order to allow them to focus solely on school and administrative issues.

The PTO has not only been a committee but also a family. They get together, have tea, talk about school events, and also have a weekly halaqa. This time together allows all mothers to form strong friendships at the school. It has also allowed them to share their ideas and establish a sisterhood that is very unique to Northstar School.

In one short year the Northstar PTO has accomplished the following:

• Organized Eid Celebrations
• Organized Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day
• Organized weekly Friday Bake Sales
• Coordinated Eid and Ramadan Cookie Sales
• Co-organized the Play and Recital

Alhamdulillah they started with nine members who didn’t know where to begin, being their first experience actively involved with a school. Now, it has grown to include many dedicated parents with a room mom assigned to each grade. The officers for the 2012-2013 school year are:
