Development & Communications Manager


Northstar School is seeking a talented and passionate Development and Communications Manager to join the Northstar School team and community. As a member of Northstar School’s Development team, you will play a crucial role in driving our mission and vision forward by building community relationships and planning and coordinating fundraising events.

This is an amazing opportunity to grow professionally as a development and marketing professional by learning and taking on a broad scope of responsibilities including engaging with our donors, alumni, and the broader community.  This is a part-time position with adaptable schedule options.


You will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the creation and implementation of fundraising plans and campaigns.
  • Supporting the coordination and execution of fundraising events
  • Managing and maintaining donor databases
  • Communicating with donors and cultivating donor relationships
  • Preparing fundraising and marketing materials to engage with the donor community
  • Providing administrative support for special events including data management, mailings, marketing, and other communication initiatives. 
  • Developing marketing and social media strategies, using social media data and analytics to make key-decisions.
  • Conducting research on potential donors, foundations, and grant opportunities


The following qualifications are desired:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or actively pursuing a Bachelors as a junior or senior standing
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills, and the ability to write in a clear and compelling style
  • Passion for creating great content for campaigns, web, and social media
  • Ability to quickly learn and committed to continuous improvement of methods and approaches
  • Self-motivated, accountable to goals, and willing to learn new techniques, ideas, and skills
  • Excellent personal organization, work planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects, activities, and actions with competing deadlines 
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with Google Workspace and standard web applications
